Can anyone tell me anything about this ornament?

Ahhh! Send a photo to the City Museum in Hanley, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. They are very knowledgeable about the history of pottery and may well be able to identify it. Have a look underneath it and tell them any words, letters etc that might be there, either printed of indented in the pottery.
