How do you focus when a boring teacher is giving a lesson?

I have an EXTREMELY flat toned teacher, and he is my homeroom teacher too. I try to listen but i loose focus quickly on him. My grades are being affected by this and its not fair! Please let me in on some tips, i would really appreciate it. ( and so would my parents)
