How does the American Dream still exsist in society today?

I am writing a final exam essay, the ignment is to explain how both versions of the American dream still exists today. (both versions as in Puritanical, the puritans from specifically the Crucible, and overly liberly, from the Great Gatsby) I'm not sure how to write this essay, or any ideas for it. Does the American Dream really even exsist today?
